Final leg of HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Championship at Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club

Eleven riders representing different countries from all over the globe vie for honours in the 1600m PA Prestige as the final leg of the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak World Ladies Championship IFAHR gets underway at Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club here on Sunday, November 11.

All preparations are well in place at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club to host the final leg of HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship (IFAHR) and the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak EARS Apprentice Jockey Cup on Sunday, it was announced on Thursday (November 8).

“We are proud as organisers of HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival to welcome all participants in the two events and our valuable guests, partners and sponsors in Abu Dhabi, the capital of women equestrian sports,” Lara Sawaya, director the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival and head of IFAHR ladies racing told newsmen at the Eastern Mangrove Hotel, the official hotel of the festival.

Top professional Australian lady jockey Linda Meech who comes to UAE with 1000 wins, partners A’nnabak W’Rsan as 12 lady riders from around the globe launch their claims in the final leg of the HH Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship (IFAHR) at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club on Sunday evening.

Shathra Hajjaj, representing UAE, who’s seeking her first win in the series starts from stall three astride Ragdan. But she looked confident to strike after nine unsuccessful attempts where her best finish was third in Germany.

Lilij Ann brought the curtain down on the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stud Farm Cup 10-race series in The Netherlands with a superb win at the Duindigt racecourse on Sunday (October 28).

In a close contest the 6-year-old mare under jockey Anthony Deau did well to get the better of Sadiq under Harry Bentley in the 2100-metre contest which was also the Dutch Arabian Derby for 2012.

The 10th and final Wathba Stud Farm Cup race for the year 2012 in The Netherlands has attracted a star-studded field promising a thrilling end to this popular series.

Sunday’s (October 28) race at the Duindigt race course is not only the final race of the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stud Farm Cup series but is also the Dutch Arabian Championship 2012.

Malmoe – Sweden: Top Swedish jockey Per-Anders Graberg partnered Al Dahis to glory in the 1200m The Wathba Stud Farm International Arabian Sprint Gr-3 at the Jagersro Racetrack (dirt) here on Thursday evening (September 27).

The eight-year-old son of Sheridhah-Al Rabab raced from the centre of the track before he changed course to chase the leading pair and gets up in the concluding strides to prevail by half a length on the line.
“I think Al Dahis did a very good job and relished the soft ground,” said the winning jockey Graberg in a post-race chat.

Stockholm- Stage is set for the 1200m Wathba Stud Farm Jagersro International Sprint (Group-3 PA) at the Jagersro Racetrack (dirt) with eight horses from Sweden, Iraq, Holland and Germany lining up for honours on Thursday afternoon (September 27).

The 16th round of the series is held under the directives of HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, as part of the 4th edition of the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival over 1200 metres and carries a total purse of Euro 16.828 in prize-money.

Lausanne – Top weight Terach El Samawi survived a stewards’ inquiry to land the 15th round of the Wathba Stud Farm Cup series at the Hippodrome D’Avenches here on Saturday afternoon (September 15).

The six-year-old son of Tidijani made virtually all to win hands and heels under Fabian Weissmeier ahead of the mount of Placais Olivier, Nil Ashal who chased the winner home to take second and behind them came Badjy, ridden by Huber Michael.

Lausanne – Switzerland: Strong field of nine horses have been declared to battle it to the wire in the 15th round of the Wathba Stud Farm Cup at the Avenches Racecourse here on Saturday, September 15.

The 1800m turf contest carries a total purse of Euro 6.312.93 in prize-money and has attracted runners from Switzerland, Holland, France and Germany with plenty of them in with a chance to make their presence felt.
Top weight Terach Al Samawi, ridden by Fabian Weissmeier, will be hard to beat. The German-bred seven-year-old veteran son of Tidjani has rarely finished out of the frame in 26 starts and should win hands and heels for trainer Mrs. Regine Weissmeier.

HH Sheikh Mansoor Racing Festival thrills  Craon crowd

A large crowd witnessed some top quality Purebred Arabian racing at the Craon racecourse about 300 kms from the French capital of Paris on Saturday (August 25) evening.

In a double treat, Sandeed scored a surprise win under Gerald Avranche in the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup (Group 2) while later in the evening  20-year-old Alison Massin came up with a fantastic finish on Ijad to win the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship IFAHR race.

The two races are part of the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival.

California -The Victorian Village of Ferndale played host to the second edition of California's four Wathba Stud Farm Cup races. A field of 7 maidens entered the starting gate to travel the five-furlong distance.

Up N Running, ridden by Dionicio Navarro, took the early lead into the first turn and continued down the backstretch setting the early fractions followed far behind by Limit lace, Hitdamark, and EC Numero Quest.

As the field turned for home a determined Kentucky Bay with Barrington Harvey on board and Hitdamark ridden by Matt Garcia closed fiercely on the outside. When they crossed the wire it was too close to call. After what seemed like an eternity for the connections, the tote board showed that Kentucky Bay had prevailed by half a length over Hitdamark.

Seven horses have been declared to battle it to the wire in the 12th round of the Wathba Stud Farm Cup to be held at the Ferndale Racecourse, California on Saturday, August 18.

The race will be contested over five furlongs and carries a total purse of $5000 in prize money.

Top weight EC Numero Quest heads the challenge under jockey A. Boag for trainer S. Torok, but Kentucky Bay will pose the immediate threat to the chances of the front runner.

Dutch raider Gazel T, owned and trained by Gerhard Zoetelief, was superbly ridden by German jockey Eduardo Pedroza to victory in the Wathba Stud Farm Cup (Group 3) race held Jägersro in Sweden on Monday.

It was the fourth race in the Wathba Cup series after three events in The Netherlands and Gazel T won the 1730-metre race famishing ahead of the Michal Romanowski-trained Pentagon from Denmark while Gunter Richter’s Ameretto was third.
