Terach El Samawi lives up to the expectations

Lausanne – Top weight Terach El Samawi survived a stewards’ inquiry to land the 15th round of the Wathba Stud Farm Cup series at the Hippodrome D’Avenches here on Saturday afternoon (September 15).

The six-year-old son of Tidijani made virtually all to win hands and heels under Fabian Weissmeier ahead of the mount of Placais Olivier, Nil Ashal who chased the winner home to take second and behind them came Badjy, ridden by Huber Michael.

However, the result was decided in the stewards’ room after the second finisher objected to alleged interference in the last strides, but the objection was denied and the result was held in the same order in which the horses crossed the finish line.

“I didn’t need to edge right as my mount was well settled and stormed home well clear. El Samawi was always surprising me and was travelling nicely throughout the trip. I didn’t feel any pressure and my horse did a very good job,” a jubilant jockey Fabian Weissmeier said.

Trainer cum owner Regine Weissmeier said: “Terach El Samawi has been training very well and did everything right. We need to wait to find out how he’s come out after the race to decide his next target.
