Tequila du Breuil and Amazing Sawaska register wins in Wathba Stud Farm Cup races

While the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival’s Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup (Listed) took the centre stage on Sunday in Frankfurt, Germany, two Wathba Stud Farm Cup races were also held in The Netherlands and California.

In the Wathba Stud Farm Cup V, staged in Duindigt, Tequila du Breuil, ridden by Peter Janssen romped home. Shakia Dormala, with Dick Gossens in the saddle secured the second place and Sjacour, ridden by Wanda Watlow settled for third place.

Trainer Diana Dorenberg was all smiles as she was the trainer of both the top two finishers. Reserved for four-year-olds, it drew nine entries and the distance to cover was 2,000 meters.

The Wathba Stud Farm Cup series has proven to be a great success and encouragement for Dutch owners who engage themselves more than ever in Arabian racing; many of them enthusiastically talk about breeding again or buying new horses for next season,” said W.J. de Ruiter, Chairman of the Dutch Arabian Racing Committee and treasurer of the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities (IFAHR).

Meanwhile the Wathba Stud Farm Cup race, staged at the Humboldt County Fair in Ferndale, California, was contested by a field of seven maidens.

Amazing Sawaska, trained by John Pitches and ridden by Billy Lewis put a good performance to win the race run over 1300 meters.

Dancingwiththestars, trained by Ruby Thomas and with Chris Russel on board finished second. Sammies Moment, with Luis Godoy in the saddle was third.

The Arabian Racing Association of California revealed that they were proud to host this series of added money sponsor races in the state of California.

The Arabian Jockey Club of the USA too expressed their gratitude to all the sponsors of this Global Festival of races for bringing this series to the USA and for all their efforts in bringing a renewed awareness of the Arabian race horse worldwide.

The Wathba Stud Farm Cup series is one among the three series included in this year’s HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Flat Racing Festival.

The Festival is being organized by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage and co-ordinate by Abu Dhabi Sports Council in association with Emirates Arabian Horse Society with support from Invest AD, Areej Al Ameerat, La Sirene, the UAE's General Women's Union, Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2011, Wathba Stud Farm and  Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.

No less than 21 races are being held this year, in the ongoing the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stud Farm Cup races. This has been made possible by HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahayan, Deputy Prime Minister of UAE and Minister of Presidential Affairs’s move to support races from small owners.

The next Wathba Stud Farm Cup race in Europe will be held on August 27 in Stockholm.
