Abu Dhabi UAE, October 30, 2011 – The last race of the evening at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club featured the 1600m HH Sheikh Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies’ IFAHR Cup, an invitational race for amateur lady riders. The 12 ladies from 12 different countries on Purebred Arabians was an exciting feature of the evening, leading off with young girls in Arabian dress escorting the riders onto the field for introduction.
The reigning Fegentri World Champion, Swedish rider Tina Henriksson on the Eric Lemartinel-trained Naseem Al Reef, showed her skill in the stretch stealing the lead from Italy’s Elisabette Marcialis on Jazeerat Alsadyaat. Henriksson said, “I was the first to get my horse relaxed out of the gate and just go with the group. About the middle of the stretch I too the lead and I knew I had enough horse to finish. He was nice to ride.”
Henriksson spoke for the group as well as herself when she said. “We think it’s a great experience to come here and ride this race before the next Fegentri Cup. (The final Ladies Fengentri for 2011 is in December in Mauritius) ”It’s a great experience with everyone dedicated to racing and everyone so helpful. I’ve had two years riding all over the world. We get to see so much.”
