Two share HH Sheikh Mansoor Festival-supported UK Award
The 12th annual Women of the Future Awards took place at London’s Hilton Park Lane Hotel on Wednesday, 15 November 2017 and yielded a record number of nominations from a vast spectrum of careers and professions across 14 categories, including the Sport Award, which for the second consecutive year was sponsored by HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival. Torn between two finalists who have significantly impacted the lives of young adults and children through sport, the judges awarded the trophies to visually impaired Great British Goalball Player Dr Sarah Leiter, who combines international level sport with studying medicine and pursuing research, and Alexandra Paske, Founder and Managing Director of Mintridge Events, a young people mentoring programme which harnesses the power of positive sporting role models.

Huge boost to Sheikh Mansoor’s Mentorship programme

17 students finish their stints in different countries

The International Federation of Horse Racing Academies, IFHRA, Mentorship Porgramme had a successful year in 2017 with 18 students getting an opportunity to make use of the Racing Scholarship Fund, RSF.

The initiative, which falls under the umbrella of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, helps provide professional mentorship opportunities for students outside their countries. These students are either currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an IFHRA member Racing Academy or national representative.

Horses owned by HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan made a clean sweep of the top three spots in the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Group Two race held in Toulouse on Thursday.

Najah, a three-year-old Munjiz filly bred by HH Sheikh Mansoor coasted to a smart win under Jean-Bernard Equem to win the Group 2 race, the final international fixture of this premium race series before the Euros 1.2 million Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Jewel Crown Group 1 on November 10 in Abu Dhabi.


Algerian makes it to final of HH Sheikha Fatima Apprentice World Apprentice Championship series

Algeria’s Abdelkader Boulosba became the final Apprentice jockey to qualify for this year’s HH Sheikha Fatima Apprentice World Apprentice Championship (IFAHR) series final which will be held in Abu Dhabi on November 10, 2017.

In Monday’s leg of the HH Sheikha Fatima World Apprentice Championship held at the Caroubier Racecourse in the Algerian capital of Algiers, Abdelkader Boulosba on Fakhr Ezaman had a stroke of fortune in his qualification. Jockey Ali Jabbar who finished first was demoted to fourth place for intervention and causing hindrance following a Steward’s inquiry and Abdelkader Boulosba, who finished second was declared winner.


Spain’s Gutierrez on Kontrat De Ghazal wins in photo-finish

Spanish Apprentice jockey Alejandra Gutierrez on Kontrat De Ghazal had to spend a few anxious moments before the photo declared her the winner in one of the closest finishes in this year’s HH Sheikha Fatima Apprentice World Apprentice Championship (IFAHR) series.

The race in Tarbes, France had Alejandra Gutierrez on Kontrat De Ghazal and Germany’s Claudia Pawlak on Rmmas cross the line almost together with Robert Fitzpatrick on Domino De Maligne just behind.


Karin van den Bos sadles winner for HH Sheikh Mansoor as 16-year-old Bekaert strikes on Herrmin

Loid Bekaert, the 16-year-old Apprentice jockey from Belgium who already booked a berth in the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Apprentice World Championship final after winning in Berlin in July, scored in another race series organised by the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival.

One of the eight riders in the Festival’s Wathba Stallions Cup held at the Duindigt race course in The Netherlands on Sunday, Bekaert made no mistake and this time he was riding a horse owned by Yas Horse Racing Management belonging to HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan


Desprez on Verseau D’Aurabelle leads French sweep

Arthur Desprez riding 8-year-old Verseau D’Aurabelle led a clean sweep of the French riders in the CEI Two-star 120-km HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Cup held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 in the forest of Fontainebleau about 60 kms from the French capital of Paris.

The HH Sheikh Mansoor Cup was part of the two-day HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s ‘Endurance in Capitals Challenge’ endurance events held here.

It was a great effort in the final loop that helped Arthur Desprez on Verseau D’Aurabelle finish ahead of Laetita Pegaz Tocquet on Vegas De Majorie and Alex Moreau on Tann Salou making it a fine showing from the French riders.

The penultimate race of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Apprentice World Apprentice Championship (IFAHR) series will be run at the Tarbes racecourse in France on Sunday.

The winner of this event will qualify for the final of the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Apprentice World Apprentice Championship (IFAHR) series which will be run on November 10, 2017 in Abu Dhabi.


HH Sheikh Mansoor Festival’s ‘Endurance in Capitals Challenge’-Over 300 riders for two-day event in Fontainebleau

The forest of Fontainebleau, about 60 kms from the French capital of Paris, is the venue where the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s ‘Endurance in Capitals Challenge’ endurance events will be worked off on October 13 and 14, 2017.

Abu Dhabi, Madrid, Brussels and Paris Fontainebleau are the venues for the 2017 ‘Endurance in Capitals Challenge’ unveiled by the HH Sheikh Mansoor Festival.

Around 300 riders from 21 countries will be taking part in nine events but the highlight of the two-day event will be the HH Sheikh Mansoor Festival rides.


Storm Troupour ends Macallan’s run Wathba Stallions Sprint Cup (Group 3) in Malmo, Sweden

The HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stallions Sprint Cup, the last of the five races of the Festival in Scandinavia, was run on Thursday, October 5 at the Jagersro Racecourse near Malmo in Sweden.

The Group 3 race run over 1200 metres had attracted a strong field of 11 runners which included local ace Macallan. Winner of this race for two consecutive years Macallan had also seen off what seemed to be the toughest opponents in a Group 3 1000-metre dash in England in his latest run-Storm Troupour by 2½ lengths and Lou Reynal by 6½.


Highlights from ADIHEX 2017

Now in its 15th year, the Abu Dhabi Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) remains one of the country’s most popular annual events, drawing thousands of guests over a five-day period to exhibitor stands which celebrate Abu Dhabi’s culture, history and deep-rooted traditions.

UAE's Faisal Al-Rahmani elected IFAHR chairman

The UAE nominee Faisal Al-Rahmani has unanimously won the chairmanship of the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities, IFAHR, during the General Assembly elections held in Paris on Saturday, September 30.

Faisal Al-Rahmani, who is a passionate owner-breeder of Purebred Arabian horses, replaces Qatari  Sami Jassim Al Boenain as the new IFAHR Chairman.

Faisal Al Rahmani is the Deputy Director of the Emirates Arabian Horse Association and is the Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee, General Supervisor of Al Ain Race Track, UAE Director of Horse Auction.


Shahm wins Prix Nedjari-Wathba Stallions Cup

Shahm, owned by Yas Horse Racing Management, the racing arm of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, won the Prix Nedjari-Wathba Stallions Cup at the Bordeaux-Le Bouscat in France on Tuesday, September 26, 2017.

The 4-year-old Mahabb son, was ridden by Emilien Revolte and scored a smart win over Kontrat De Ghazal under Alexandre Gavilan in the 12-horse field which contested the Euros 15,000 race sponsored by the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival.


Jockey Fuller among five shortlisted
Briton’s Amateur Flat and National Hunt jockey Page Fuller, 22, has been shortlisted to receive the coveted Women of the Future Sport Award sponsored by the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival.Nominated to receive the award in 2016 together with fellow jockey and category finalist Alice Mills, Fuller will now progress to the final judging stage with GB Short Track athlete Elise Christie, GB Rowing athlete Emily Craig, GB Goalball player Sarah Leiter and Mintridge Events Founder Alexandra Paske - five category finalists who have been selected for their exceptional talent and standout achievements in sport.

ARO Patron HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance and Industry who owned and bred Alwaleed and Saleemah and the James Owen-trained Al Kaaser- all three scored on Saturday.

Trainer Philip Collington recorded his first hat-trick of the 2017 season with wins from Alwaleed, Saleemah and Hau Kola.


Djehlbi wins Wathba Stallions Cup in Warwick, Australia

Djehlbi, one of Australia’s top Purebred Arabian horses once again showed his mettle when he made a winning comeback in the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stallions Cup at the Warwick race track in Queensland on the Saturday, September 16, 2017.

Eight horses started in the race and Djehlbi, sired by Dehlbi (FR) x Djelica (FR), and owned and trained by Michelle Amos, scored a smart win under jockey Isabella Teh.

The HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s final Wathba Stallions sponsored UK fixture of 2017 will be held at Chelmsford City Racecourse on Saturday , 2017.

The Arabian Racing Organisation-organised meeting is seven-race card and will get underway at 1.00pm. Paddys Day wins Sheikh Zayed Triple Jewel as Arabian horses debut in Monmouth Park

Thanks to the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival,Monday, September 4, 2017 will go down in the annals of US horse racing as a historic day on two fronts- Purebred Arabian horses made their debut at the Monmouth Park and more importantly they raced ‘lasix-free’ for the first time in a US race meeting.

The HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival had laid down that its races in the US will be ‘lasix-free’ and for the first time ever Purebred Arabian racing on Monday showed the way competing without the use of Lasix-the anti-bleeding medication which is used in the US but banned in many other racing countries.

Russia’s Andrey Ivanov rode three-year-old bay mare Batenisa to victory in the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Apprentice World Championship race at Kazan International racecourse in Tatarstan on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.

Shannon Queen won the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan-Nagroda Europy- Group 3 race while jockeys Hungarian Csenge Sutak and home favourite Ireneusz Wojcik won their respective races in HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak World Championship Ladies and Apprentices races at the Sluzewiec racecourse in Warsaw on Sunday, August 20.

Sabrina Arnold wins World Championship of the Young Horses in Belgium

Germany’s Sabrina Arnold made the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival-supported three-day Brussels Equestrian Endurance Masters (BEEM) at the Bois de la Cambre in Sonian Forests in the Belgian capital of Brussels her very own.

On Thursday’s opening day she won the 160-km Four-star European Championship (CH-EU-E) endurance ride and then closed Saturday’s final day (August 19, 2017) with another dominating performance to win the 120-km FEI World Championship of the Young Horses (CH-M-E-7Y), on August 19.


Denmark’s Neland pips UAE’s Alyazia to Gold

Denmark’s Merethe Neland won the individual gold and France emerged team champions in the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Nations Ladies Cup, a  CEIO two-star 120-km ride while Sebastien Valerio of France won the 120-km HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Cup International CEI two star ride in Brussels on Friday, August 18, 2017.

The two rides were part of the three-day Brussels Equestrian Endurance Masters (BEEM) which was supported by HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival.


Germany’s Arnold emerges European Champion

Germany’s Sabrina Arnold won her first endurance ride in 1995 but it took her another 22 years to win her first major international championship and that happened on Thursday, August 17, 2017, in the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival-supported European Championship (CH-EU-E).

The 160-km Four star ride was held at the at the Bois de la Cambre, an urban public park situated on the edge of the Sonian Forests in the Belgian capital of Brussels and Arnold and 10-year-old Tarzibus made it a start to finish affair.


HH Sheikh Mansoor Festival support for four endurance rides in Belgium, European championship kicks off BEEM event

The HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s role in promoting the sport of endurance comes into full play with its support for the second successive year to the FEI-approved three-day Brussels Equestrian Endurance Masters (BEEM) starting on Thursday, August 17, 2017.

The Festival’s support for four endurance rides over the next three days comes as part of the instructions from HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

The first of the four endurance rides which kicks off tomorrow (Thursday) at the Bois de la Cambre, an urban public park situated on the edge of the Sonian Forests in the Belgian capital of Brussels is the 160-km Four star European Championship (CH-EU-E) over 160 kms.


Naziq, Mirna strike in Ostend races

The Wellington racecourse in the Belgian city of Ostend turned out to be a happy hunting ground for Yas Horse Racing management, the horse racing arm of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy PM of the UAE and Minister of Presidential Affairs, on Monday, August 14, 2017.

In the two races organized under the umbrella of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Racing Festival, Naziq under Richard Mullen and Mirna under Rosie Jessop, both horses owned by Yas, won their respective races in front of a large band of fans at the Wellington racecourse.


Quality field for Sheikh Zayed Cup in Ostend

After Saturday’s great success for the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Racing Festival in the inaugural UAE Abu Dhabi Day held at Chelmsford City Racecourse, the action shifts to the Ostend Racecourse in Belgium today (Monday, August 14).

The Festival’s Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup, a Group 3 race has attracted a small but quality field for the 1800-metre turf contest with a prize fund of Euros 35,000.


O’Shea steers Mith’haf Athbah to Zayed Cup (Gr 1) win

The Group 1 Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan race made a spectacular debut at Chelmsford City Racecourse in the United Kingdom on Saturday as Mith’haf Athbah was ridden home to a narrow win by Tadhg O’Shea.

On a day when a large crowd watched all four race series of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival run as part of the UAE Abu Dhabi Day, the other two big winners were Danish lady jockey Rikke Bay Torp and Jordan’s Apprentice jockey Milly Naseb.  


UAE Abu Dhabi Day race meeting in Chelmsford

The HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival stops at Chelmsford City Racecourse in the United Kingdom on Saturday with all four of its races series to be run as part of the UAE Abu Dhabi Day.

On Saturday, August 12, 20`17 the Festival will stage the HH Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup (Group 1), and the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies and HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Apprentice World Championships (IFAHR) along with three supporting races under the Wathba Stallions banner. The six-race fixture is being staged as part of Chelmsford’s successful music night series and the race meeting will conclude with live music from UB40.


Toverud cheers home fans in HH Sheikha Fatma Apprentice World Championship race in Denmark

Top Danish apprentice jockey Veronika Toverud, brought Eastway home to win the fifth round of the HH Sheikha Fatma Bint Mubarak Apprentice World Championship race at the Kloppenburg racecourse, Denmark on Saturday, August 5.

F Falcons emerged as the top stallion and earned his owner Mohammed Al Eraibi the gold medal and championship title as the curtain came down on the two-day 5th National Arabian Horse Show Championship which was successfully concluded under the patronage and support of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, at the Saint Anna School, Rayaq Baalbek on Sunday, July 30. The competition was organized by the Purebred Arabian Horse Breeders in Lebanon and sponsored by the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival under the slogan of One World 6 continents Abu Dhabi The Capital.

Under the patronage and support of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, the two-day fifth National Arabian Horse Show Championship was organised by the Purebred Arabian Horses Breeders in Lebanon at the Saint Anna School, Rayaq Baalbek on Saturday.

Mohammed Al Eraibi’s horses were in fine form and they dominated in the younger horse categories in this popular annual event.

Festival returns to historic Hoppengarten in Berlin

The HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival returned after four years to the historic Hoppengarten race course in Berlin on Wednesday, July 26 to stage the fourth round of this year’s HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Apprentice World Championship race.

And a young 16-year-old Apprentice jockey from Belgium, Loid Bekaert, stole the limelight when he scored an emphatic win in the 2200-metre race on Le Jason, a four-year-old trained by R. Zoetelief.

Swiss lady jockey Nadia Burger and Chalwa De Breull to win the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship race (Group 3) ahead of home favourite Cindy Klinkenberg on Lou Raynal and break the hearts of a large band of Purebred Arabian racing fans at the Duindigt racecourse in The Netherlands on Sunday. The result left the Dutch jockey Klinkenberg in tears while the Swiss pro not only steered the 5-year-old mare Chalwa De Breull to her first win in four starts but also clinched a berth in the November finale of the HH Sheikha Fatima Ladies World Championship in Abu Dhabi.

Ridden by Jeane Alves, one of the top lady jockeys in Brazil, Zells Kate came up with a record-breaking run to win the Grand Prix Mahabb (Group 3) -Wathba Stallions Cup at Hipódromo de Cidade Jardim in Sao Paulo on Saturday. The Grand Prix Mahabb (Group 3) was one of the three races held under the umbrella of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival and part of the Wathba Stallions Cup Festival. The first three races on the card comprised of the Wathba Stallion Cup Festival and was worth R$ 100.000,00 (One Hundred Thousand Reais) in prize money and open to Purebred Arabian horses.

The 1800-metre contest on turf  carries a prize fund of Euros 30,000 and more importantly the winning lady jockey of the race will qualify for the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship final to be run in Abu Dhabi in November.

James Owen dominated the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s first Wathba Stallions sponsored fixture of the 2017 Arabian Racing Organisation season at Chelmsford City Racecourse on Saturday afternoon. 

In front of a crowd over a thousand racegoers, the in-form Newmarket-based trainer recorded a four-timer, with victories for Dolfina D’Ibos (0-55 Handicap), Karlos Du Cayrou (0-95 Handicap), Munbaher (0-80 Handicap) and Crahck (Restricted Maiden), giving jockeys Simon Walker and Joanna Mason doubles in the process.

The HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stallions series will make its debut in Chelmsford City racecourse in Essex, UK on Saturday, July 15, 2017.

The UK’s Arabian Racing Organisation welcomed the Wathba Stallions series to Chelmsford City Racecourse and the July 15 Wathba Stallions race meeting will be the first of three full Arabian race meetings at the Essex track this season, the other two fixtures scheduled for 12th August and 16th September, 2017.

When 20-year-old American rider Mahayla West from Kentucky got an opportunity to visit Ireland in May this year, she not only fulfilled one of her biggest dreams which was to train herself in her passion for horse racing but she also got to make her first trip on an aircraft!

Mahayla who had never flown out of the United Sates, was selected from the United States to train for six weeks in Kildangan Stud, Kildare, Ireland, as part of the International Federation of Horse Racing Academies’ (IFHRA) Racing Scholarship Fund, RSF. IFHRA is headquartered in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The 6-year-old Paddys Day, owned by Quarter Moon Ranch LLC, has won the first two (2015 & 2016) editions of the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Arabian Triple Crown along with the US$ 150,000 bonus each year and has also won the Amethyst Jewel (first leg) this year in Houston in March.

Lady riders from the UAE did the country proud when four of their riders finished in the top five in the 120-km HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies CEI Two-star Cup which was part of the three-day Sardinia Endurance Festival that concluded on Sunday in the Horse Country Resort area in Arborea, Sardinia in Italy.

Four rides were part of the Sardinia Endurance Festival and the highlight was the ladies competition in which UAE riders Alyazia Al Romaithi on Holoutaria and Alia Al Saboori on Shamberlain finished hand-in-hand in the 120-km.

Owner-trainer Peter Deckers registered a brilliant 1-2 finish in the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stallions Cup race held at the Hippodrome de Wallonie-Ghlin in Belgium recently.

Once again it was Anna van den Troost, the lady jockey who has tasted consistent success in races organised by the Festival, who helped James DA edge past Suman DA ridden by Stephen Breux.

Macallan, one of the equine stars of Sweden, showed his class with a fantastic win in front of a record crowd that had converged at the Gardet national park to mark Sweden’s National Day as well as lap up the action in a couple of  Purebred Arabian races.

In the last few years the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s races have been one of the highlights on the June 6 Swedish National Day race meeting and on Monday it was a record crowd of nearly 55,000 that had thronged the Gardet, a city district in central Stockholm which is part of the world’s first national city park.

Metrag got back to winning ways with a solid run in the Listed Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup while Italian Guilia Coccia and Hungarian Alexandria Bihari booked their berths in the finals of the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies and Apprentice world championships respectively.

Spain's María Alvarez won the 120-km ladies endurance cup with aplomb on May 20, 2017, Saturday, partnering JM Bucefala. She had won the 160-km event the previous lady.

The two-star FEI ladies ride saw a good participation from several European countries and was part of the HH Shiekh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival (Abu Dhabi-Madrid-Brussels series),  which was held at Carmara Esteruelas suburb in Madrid, Spain.

Algiers is latest stop of HH Sheikh Mansoor Festival

Marabouh Almisk and Ghilas won the two races organized by the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival in Algeria on Saturday.

The two races, for Purebred Arabian horses, were the Festival’s first here in Algeria and were run on the Al Kharouba race track in Algiers.



Another country comes under the umbrella of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s Purebred Arabian Horse Racing when two Wathba Stallions races will be run in Algeria on Saturday, May 13, 3017.

The two races will be part of the Wathba Stallions (previously run as the Wathba Stud Farm Cup) race series and will be run on the Al Kharuba racecourse in Algeria.

The Thomas Fourcy-trained Khataab won the Group 2 Prix Carthage-Hannibal- Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup race while Belgium’s Alice Bertiaux on Sha’hir scored in the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship race in Toulouse on Friday, April 21, 2017.

The two races were held as part of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival.

Nine started in the Euros 35,000 in the Sheikh Zayed Cup run over 2000 metres and this race kicked-off the Festival’s premier series in Europe.

The HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup (Prix De Carthage – Hannibal) Group 2 in Toulouse on April 22 marks the debut of the series in Europe in 2017.

With the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship also being staged at the Toulouse racecourse on Saturday, some quality runners including previous winners of the Festival’s races will be seen in action.

The cheque presentation took place in a Winner’s Circle ceremony prior to the running of the Grade I, $100,000 HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Darley Award Stakes.

Just when he thought he ‘had ridden them all’, it was a first time experience for Triple Crown-winning jockey Victor Espinoza, thanks to the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival.

Ezpinoza, who became the first Triple Crown-winning jockey in 37 years when he guided Bob Baffert’s American Pharoah to victory in the 2015 Belmont Stakes, contested in his first ever race on a Purebred Arabian horse and emerged victorious.

Tadhg O’Shea had made the perfect start to proceedings and was probably never headed aboard Naiem in the Wathba Stud Farm Cup, a 1600m handicap which began proceedings on the final race meeting here.

In a close finish Saggiomo on Kuheilan Aafas 1675 finished ahead of another Kuwaiti-trained runner Al Hamdanieh 1637 ridden by Eva Herresthal of Germany.

Hassan Jumaa Hassan Al Hamadi from Comoros on 13-year-old grey gelding Layl De Tensonnives registered a dominant victory in Saturday’s, February 25, 100-km HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Endurance Cup for Private Owners at the Emirates International Endurance Village, Al Wathba in Abu Dhabi emirate.

Al Hammadi and Layl De Tensonnives were in their elements right from the start and after the first 40-km loop they were ahead of the 61-strong pack that started in the morning. After that they dominated the 4-loop 100-km event and were ahead in every stage to finally win in three hours 36 minutes and 29 seconds.

The Arabian Racing Cup announced the nominees for the coveted USA Darley Awards. These nominees were selected by the Cup Stewards as the best of Arabian Racing in the U.S. for the year 2016. Beginning next week, the Darley Voting Academy will review detailed statistics and performance data from the Arabian Jockey Club about these nominees and cast their votes via confidential ballots.

Abu Dhabi, UAE - Mubarak Saeed Al Qahtani representing Comoros won the HH Sheikh Zayed Bin Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Junior and Young Riders Endurance Cup, a 120-km contest held at the Emirates International Endurance Village, Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi on Saturday, January 28.

Riding Escoba, a 9-year-old bay mare, the Al Jazira Stables 2 rider Al Qahtani was in dominant form and after taking the lead in the second of the 4-stage race, stayed in front to win from Zayed Saeed Al Houqani from Al Wathba Stables riding 10-year-old grey mare JLB Noche.

The Wathba Stud Farm Cup was the opening 2000 metre handicap and the Helal Al Alawi-trained Yalap Al Naif under Buckell, won the Dh 70,000 race in the final strides. The winner denied stable companion, Al Gassimi who tried gallantly to lead throughout under Bruno Reis.

The 9th edition of the globe-trotting HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival begins with two races at the Al Rahba racecourse on Friday, January 20 on a day when the Oman Derby will also be run.

The Festival, run under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, will stage  the opening legs of the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship (IFAHR) series and the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Apprentice Jockeys World Championship (IFHRA) series.

Owner Khalid Khalifa Al Naboodah and trainer Ernst Oertel combined with four of the 13 runners in the 1200-metre conditions race and provided both first and second.

In a dominating display, UAE rider Mohammed Ali Ateeq Al Qemazi, astride 14-year-old Woodbourne Star Flash won the FEI CEI** 120 Km Endurance Ride Al Reef Cup for the in-form Al Reef Al-Ain Stables at the Emirates International Endurance Village in Al Wathba.
He also led a sweep by UAE riders who took the top three spots here on Saturday, January 14.

Saeed Sultan Shames Al Maamari, riding 13-year-old Anglo-Arab gelding Shaddad was one second behind in second place and behind them came compatriot Abdulla Ghanim Al Marri aboard 11-year-old Anglo-Arab gelding Tom Jones as 183 riders started the grueling race.

Ameer Al Sraya showed that at 11 he can still be a force to reckon with and the Khalid Abdulrahman Al Muhairi-owned horse did just that on Friday (January 13) in Al Ain when winning the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stud Farm Cup for Private Owners Only race.

The Wathba Stud Farm Cup was the opening 1400m handicap and the Helal Al Alawi-trained Ameer Al Sraya, who was always travelling strongly under UAE Champion Jockey Tadhg O’Shea, won from stablemate Naiem under Patrick Cosgrave while in third place was Al Muwall’Aa under Goran Mesetovic.

The HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival unveiled its calendar of events for the year 2017, which apart from 108 events, also reflects many new countries and venues that will see action both on and off the tracks.

Ms. Lara Sawaya, Executive Director, HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, at a press conference held at the Eastern Mangrove Hotel in Abu Dhabi, said the calendar for 2017 is bigger and all the progress since the 2009 launch of the Festival has only been possible due to the initiatives and action by His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

In a grand treble win at the Al Ain race course on January 7, UAE Champion Jockey Tadhg O’Shea also ensured a win in the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stud Farm Cup for Private Owners Only race.

O’Shea steered the Mohammed Ramadan-trained Ubu Al Mels to a nearly three-length win over AF Thobor under Paolo Sirigu while Richard Mullen on Extra Hope finished third.

Saif and Ghanim Al Marri on Salam Banquetol crossed the line together with just one second separating the two in the 120-km event run in four stages.

The UAE’s Saif Ahmed Al Mazroui, astride 11-year-old Ramaah, made a great rally in the final two stages to win the CEN 120km National Day Cup Endurance Ride for the MRM Stables at the Emirates International Endurance Village at Al Wathba here on Saturday, December 3.

The winner covered the distance in 4 hours, 18 minutes and 32 seconds at average speed of 27.89 km/hour and crossed the finish-line two minutes and one second in front of compatriot and stable companion Saeed Sultan Shames Al Maamari, aboard Shaddad in the 1-2 finish for the in-form yard.

MH Areeb under Richard Mullen cruised home to win the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stud Farm Cup for Private Owners Only, on a day when HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs celebrated the UAE National Day winning three races at the Al Ain Racecourse on Friday, December 2, 2016.

It was the Festival’s Wathba Stud Farm Cup for Private Owners which opened the race meeting and the 7-year-old MH Areeb won under Richard Mullen. It was half a length that separated MH Areeb and AF Muwall’Aa under Szczepan Mazur with UAE Apprentice jockey Saeed Al Mazrooei third on Tamooh S. The winning time for the Dh 70,000 dirt contest over 1600 metres was 1:59.99.

The event is held under the directives of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs as part of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival and sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.

In a superb display of speed, Shateh, a horse bred by HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and Minister of Presidential Affairs and running in the colours of his son HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, demolished his rivals including Kahayla Classic winner AF Mathmoon in the Group 2 Bani Yas at the Meydan racecourse on Thursday, December 1.

Over 100 lady riders will start in the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Endurance Cup, a Two-star FEI 120-km event at the Emirates International Endurance Village in Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi emirate on Saturday, November 26, 2016.

Apart from the Ladies ride, which is officially the first such ladies event in the UAE to earn the FEI’s official tag, an 80-km FEI CEI One-star ride will also be held simultaneously on Saturday.

In a thrilling finish, MH Tawag under UAE champion jockey Tadhg O’Shea won the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stud Farm Cup for Private Owners at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club racecourse on Sunday night, November 20.

O’Shea was in superb form riding MH Tawag for trainer Elise Jeanne in the 1600 meters conditions race carrying a prize fund of Dh 70,000.

It was the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stud Farm Cup for Private Owners race that kick-started the Al Ain race course’s 2016-17 flat racing season on Friday, November 18, 2016.

The 7-race meeting with six races for Purebred Arabians opened with the Wathba Stud Farm Cup, a 1000m handicap with a prize fund of Dh. 70,000.

The Helal Al Alawi-trained RB Goliath under UAE Apprentice Saeed Al Mazroui scored a two-length victory over Saleem ridden by Dubai World Cup winning jockey Fernando Jara. Tm Ac-Dc was ridden to third place by Adrie De Vries.
