Tha’er wins Wathba Stud Farm Cup

Tha’er won the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stud Farm Cup for Private Owners Only race at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club racecourse on Sunday, December 18, 2016.

The Dh 80,000 race was the only Purebred Arabian handicap on the card and was over 1400 metres. Tha’er, ridden by Sam Hitchcott for owner and trainer, Saeed Hadher Al Mazrouei finished ahead of Tm-Ac-Dc under Adrie de Vries while Mh Tawag under Tadhg O’Shea ran into third place.

Later in the final race of the meeting, Majdd, owned by HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs emerged victorious under Patrick Dobbs.

The Ahmed Al Mehairbi-trained Majdd was taken to the lead in the final strides by Dobbs who was a late replacement for Harry Bentley.

Mr. Adnan Sultan Al Nuaimi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, Ms. Lara Sawaya, Executive Director of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, Chairperson of the Int’l Federation of Horse Racing Academies (IFHRA) and Chairperson of Ladies & Apprentice Racing Committees in the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities (IFAHR) and Khaled Khalifa Al Naboodah gave away the trophy to the Wathba Stud Farm Cup winning owner-trainer Saeed Hadher Al Mazrouei and jockey Sam Hitchcott.
