Melbourne, Australia - The stage is all set for the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship (IFAHR) race to be run as part of the Australia Day Races at Caulfield Racecourse in Victoria on Tuesday, 26th January 2016.

This Australian leg of the Ladies Championship is the second in 2016 and nine lady jockeys from around the globe will be in the fray on Purebred Arabian horses in the 1600-metre contest.

The horses and riders in Tuesday’s battle for a slice of the Euros 30,000 (Approx. $43,500 AUD) are Cava under  Serena Brotherton from United Kingdom;  Aloha Thee Desperado under Nathalie Johnsson from Sweden; Prince Charming FF under Sheila Ahern from  Ireland; Coolinda Park Winston under Mina You from South Korea; Zehn under Solange Gourdain from France; Warrawee Naaziq under Cindy Klinkenberg from The Netherlands; Ethereal Park Solette under Lauren Stojakovic from  Australia; Cromarty Park Zataal under Edina Toth from Hungary and Justice For All MI under Eva Maria Herresthal from Germany.

The lady jockeys in the line-up include two professionals - Australia’s Lauren Stojakovic, the first woman to win the Blue Diamond and Mina You from South Korea.

Dutch jockey Cindy Klinkenberg rides the favourite Warrawee Naaziq, owned and trained by Kim Noble and the 11-year-old is a winner of four of his 8 starts.

Six of the nine horses are making their debut and Cromarty Park Zataal under Edina Toth from Hungary is one of them and is doing so at 16 years!

Ms Lara Sawaya, Executive Director of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, Chairperson of the International Federation of Horse Racing Academies (IFHRA) and Chairperson of Ladies & Apprentice Racing Committees in the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities (IFAHR) said the Festival was proud to be staging the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship (IFAHR) race in Australia.

“We thank His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs for providing this opportunity,” Ms Sawaya said.

“Caulfield Racecourse is a prestigious racing centre in Australia and to be staging the Festival’s race as part of the Australia Day, which is the Australian National Day on January 26, will give Purebred Arabian racing and the lady jockeys a great boost,” she added.

“When Michelle Payne became the first lady jockey to win the Melbourne Cup last year, the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival also shared in the historic victory as Payne had taken part in the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship (IFAHR) race earlier.”

“The previous races held here in Australia have been a huge success and coming and competing here is a tremendous opportunity and experience for the lady jockeys. We thank the Melbourne Racing Club for this as we look forward to this race,” she said.

“With the backdrop of this great achievement by a lady jockey and the constant supervision and direction of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and Head of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood to support women in sport, we feel this race is another step in that direction,” Ms Sawaya stated.

Tuesday being a holiday as the country marks its National Day, a large crowd is expected and an added attraction is a free raffle draw on the sidelines of the race during which a holiday to Abu Dhabi and other prizes are on offer. “To celebrate the running of the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship (IFAHR) at Caulfield Racecourse on Australia Day, there is an opportunity to win a sensational all-expenses paid holiday to Abu Dhabi for a family of 2 Adults and 1 Child for 5 Nights at the Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa by Anantara in November 2016,” an Australian race official said.
