HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Apprentice World Championship race in Kazan on Tuesday

Kazan, Tatarstan - Apprentice jockeys from around the world will line-up for Tuesday’s HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Apprentice World Championship (IFAHR) race at the Kazan International Equestrian Sports Complex.

The 1600-metre race with a prize tag of Euros 20,000 is being held under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs with support from Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Mother of the UAE, Chairperson of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood.

The Apprentice jockeys will be looking to book a berth in the championship finale to be held in Abu Dhabi on November 13 and the horses and jockeys in the fray are: Beikona under Russian jockey Nikita Koreney, Tatarin under Sweden’s Fanny Olsson, Tatarka under Argentina’s  Kristina Kushnarchuk, Makfara under Germany’s Melina Ehm, Bampi under Portugal’s Manuel Fernandes, Vebster under Peru’s Victor Becerra, Amanta under Belgium’s Emilie Goudman, Dorbi under Ireland’s Dylan Hogan and Pasha under Polish apprentice jockey Joanna Balcerska.

Ms Lara Sawaya, Executive Director of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, Chairperson of the Int’l Federation of Horse Racing Academies (IFHRA) and Chairperson of Ladies & Apprentice Racing Committees in the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities (IFAHR) along with Sergey Vasilenko - the director of Kazan International racecourse held the draw for the race on Monday.

“We are very happy to be back here for the second year in a row and last year it was a hugely encouraging experience. For the first time we have a jockey from Peru in tomorrow's race and we thanks HH Sheikh Fatima Bint Mubarak, as her support has helped open up these opportunities for the Apprentice jockeys,” said Ms Lara Sawaya.
