Al Amarrad scores in Wathba Stud Farm Cup in France

Bernard signs off with a win

French trainer Jean-Francois Bernard, one of the most consistent performers in the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival signed of the three-race Wathba Stud Farm Cup series in France with a win on Friday, September 26.

Bernard saddled Al Amarrad to a superb win in the Prix Nedjari-Wathba Stud Farm Cup race in Bordeaux to score yet another triumph in the HH Sheikh Mansoor Festival series.

Al Amarrad was fourth to Melodie des Soleil in the previous Wathba Stud Farm Cup race held in Beaumonth Lomagne earlier this month. That run was over a distance of 2300 metres and Friday’s distance of 1900 metres seemed to have worked out for Al Amarrad and helped him score his first win in six starts.

Zembra (FR) finished second for owner, breeder and trainer Pierre Hoyeau while Italian horse Rosso Antico ran into third place.

This was the third and last race of the Wathba Stud Farm Cup series which is one of the more popular events by the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival as it aims at the grassroots level of Purebred Arabian racing.

The HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival is organised by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority and coordinated by Abu Dhabi Sports Council in association with Emirates Racing Authority, IFAHR and Emirates Arabian Horse Society, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare with Arabtec Holding PJSC as the Official Partner and Emirates airline as the official carriers and sponsored by Invest AD, Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC),  Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), Al Rashid Investment, Al  Awani General Enterprises, Kabale, Al Wathba Centre, the UAE's General Women's Union, the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2014, Dr. Nader Saab Switzerland, Al Wathba Center, Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, Eastern Mangroves Suites-Abu Dhabi by Jannah, Abu Dhabi Sports Channel and Racing Post.
