Herford racecourse hosts two Wathba Stud Cup races

London: Herford racecourse is all out to two Wathba Stud Farm Cup races on Saturday, August 3. The races are held under the directives of HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, under the umbrella of the HH The HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival is organized by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority and co-ordinated by Abu Dhabi Sports Council in association with Emirates Racing Authority, IFAHR and Emirates Arabian Horse Society, supported by General Authority for Youth and Sports Welfare and Fegentri with Emirates airlines as the official carrier. Sponsors include the Tourism Development& Investment Company (TDIC), Invest AD Arabtec Holding PJSC, Al Rashid Investment, Areej Al Ameerat, Al Awani General Enterprises, Kabale, Al Wathba Centre, the UAE's General Women's Union, the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2013, Dr. Nader Saab Switzerland, Wathba Stud Farm, Al Wathba Center, Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, Eastern Mangroves Hotel and SPA and Eastern Mangroves Suites-Abu Dhabi by Jannah.

Meanwhile, seven horses have been declared to battle it to the wire in the 1400m Maidens (3 years old +) which carries a total purse of GPD 400 with the Omani contender Dahline looking good to do the better work.

Trained by Salem Al Hakami on behalf of the Royal Cavalry Oman, the three-year-old filly by Dahes is lightly raced this season, but has every chance to improve and bounce back from her 6th position last time out.
The immediate danger could be posed by Al Majihi Hoor, owned and bred by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani and trained by Julian Smart in Qatar.

Meanwhile, a quality field of 11 runners line up for honours in the Wathba Stud Farm Cup Conditions Stakes which will be held later in the afternoon at the same venue.

According to Amanda Smith, Racing Manager of the Arabian Racing Organisation (UK) limited, they are delighted to see the Arabian races covering almost the majority of the racing venues in London.

“This development will have its positive impact on the Arabian races in general and the small owners and breeders in particular,” she said.

“We are working hard to promote the Arabian horse thanks to the strong support and backing we have been receiving from HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Racing Festival.

“The big boost has contributed to the improvement of the breeding and training operations of this noble creature around Europe and the globe at large,” she concluded.
