September 5, 2013, Abu Dhabi - Darley Awards Hollywood 2014 was on stage at apress conference held at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibition Center on Thursday, September 5, during the second day of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX). The Darley Awards have for 27 years put the spotlight on the Arabian racing community by recognizing and honoring the best in Arabian racing. To the assembled press and honored guests, Lara Sawaya, Director of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival and Head of International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities (IFAHR) Ladies Racing announced Darley Awards Hollywood 2014. “As a celebration of the third year of sponsorship of the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival with the US Arabian Racing Cup Darley Awards, the Oscars of Arabian racing will be held April 4-5, 2014, in Hollywood, California,” she said. According to Sawaya, the Awards will be given the Hollywood star treatment at the Oscars’ theatre followed the next evening by a Gala dinner at Universal Studios.
Speaking to the assembly she continued, “We graciously thank the Texas Arabian Breeders Association for hosting the Darley Awards the prior two years, and we welcome you all to California in 2014.” California has benefitted from the sponsorship of the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Arabian Flat Racing Festival, which has added two additional races to the six California stake races already sponsored by the group. On September 12, 2013, Fairplex, the racetrack at Pomona, California, will sponsor the $30,000 Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup and the running of the 10th race of the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship 2013 series. Founded in 1983 by Dr. Sam Harrison, the Arabian Racing Cup (ARC)'s Darley Awards ceremony has become the showcase of U.S. Arabian racing. In 2012, the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival and ARC joined together to promote this prestigious event.
