Sanovagan eyes Wathba Stud Farm Cup glory

Thirteen runners have been declared to battle it out to the wire in the 1800m Wathba Stud Farm Golden Cup at the Jaqersro Racecourse, Sweden on Sunday. The race which is held under the directives of HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs as part of the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival is open for four-year-olds and above Purebred Arabians and carries a total purse of 100.000 SEK, with plenty of horses in with a chance to strike.

According to the rules of the race, horses that are not in any of the Scandinavian Jockey Clubs databases must be pre-entered with full pedigree and life performance, at least 14 days prior to the entry date of a race.

The event is among 25 Wathba Stud Farm Cup races spread over nine countries, besides 15 races to be hosted by the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, and underlines the objectives of the festival to support small owners and breeders of Arabian horses around the globe. Sweden has already hosted the first of the two races on May 7, and is set to host the 10th leg of the 2013 Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup and the penultimate round of the 2013 HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship IFAHR in Mid-September.

Race-wise, the home team will be strongly represented in the race, with the top performer Sanovagan tipped to put his head first at the busy end.

Trained by Miss Catarina Genberg on behalf of Genberg & Co AB, the well-bred son of Top Flyte will be hard to beat and should get the job done comfortably in this company.

The HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival is organized by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority and co-ordinated by Abu Dhabi Sports Council in association with Emirates Racing Authority, IFAHR and Emirates Arabian Horse Society, supported by General Authority for Youth and Sports Welfare and Fegentri with Emirates airlines as the official carrier and sponsored by Tourism Development& Investment Company (TDIC), Invest AD Arabtec Holding PJSC, Al Rashid Investment, Areej Al Ameerat, Al Awani General Enterprises, Kabale, Al Wathba Centre, the UAE's General Women's Union, the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2013, Dr. Nader Saab Switzerland, Wathba Stud Farm, Al Wathba Center, Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, Eastern Mangroves Hotel and SPA and Eastern Mangroves Suites-Abu Dhabi by Jannah.
