Casablanca-Morocco: Manuela Slamanig rode her 13th career’s winner after the Austrian veterinary student partnered Tidjan Maamora to victory in the in the third round of the HH Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship (IFAHR) 2013 at the Hippodrome De Casablanca-Anfa here on April 12 afternoon. Majde finished a length back in second under the French lady jockey Pauline Boisgontier as Wassim Lblad came with a late run to take third on the line in the hands of the Spanish representative Cristina Buesa.

It was a fitting finale to the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stud farm Cup race series at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club racecourse.

The winners of the first 14 Wathba Stud farm Cup races of the 2012-13 UAE season were in the fray for Sunday’s final race in the series with the prize fund increased by DH 30,000 to DH 80,000.

And the Khalid Khalifa Al Naboodah-owned AF Lafeh under champion-elect jockey Tadhg O’Shea beat strong contender Yazan under Richard Mullen to give trainer Gillian Duffield her second success in the series. Eric Lemartinel’s AF Qamoos finished third under Gerald Avranche to bring the curtain down on this race series which is open only to Private Owners as a move to encourage them.

It was another win for owner Khalid Khalifa Al Naboodah when 7-year-old grey AF Lafeh won the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stud Farm Cup race at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club on Sunday, March 3.

The HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stud Farm Cup was run over the sprint distance of 1000 metres on the turf here and Gillian Duffield saddled the winner with Sam Hitchcott, who steered AF Lafeh to a handsome win in the 12-horse field.

Another success for owner Al Naboodah, trainer Lemartinel and jockey Avranche

AF Qamoos, winner of the last race in the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stud Farm Cup series last season, won again in the 12th race of this season at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club race course, on February 24.

While it was yet another win for the French pair of trainer Eric Lemartinel and jockey Gerald Avranche and owner Khalid Khalifa Al Naboodah, it was only the second win since last season’s success in the same race series.

St. Moritz- Switzerland: Fanal el Samawi, invariably favourite with the crowd, ran a cracking race to land the opening leg of the 1800m Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup (Listed), the first-ever Arabian contest staged on ice at the White Turf St. Moritz on Sunday, February 16. The event was held on the final day of the three Sundays in February with over 14000 spectators flocked to the frozen expanse to enjoy the fun and excitement of the game.

It was the 11th race of the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stud Farm Cup race series run on Sunday, February 9, and a full field of 16 runners entered the seven furlong contest.

After Ernst Oertel’s four-race winning streak on Sunday it was the turn of trainer Fakhruddin Nizamuddin to celebrate his first win since the 2008-09 season. Nizamuddin whose best this season was a 4th place finish with RS Fancy dancer in the Wathba Stud Farm Cup race on December 9, 2012, finally struck when Aryaf under Ted Durcan came up with a blistering late run to win from Samir Hawa’s Girl Power.

Richard Mullen steered Yazan to a fine win in the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stud Farm Cup race at the Abu Dhabi race course on the HH the President’s Cup race night, on February 3.

Yazan, owned by Ahmed Hareb Al Otaiba and trained by Anthony Manuel, got back to winning ways after two second-placed runs in his last two starts.

Magik Du Paon wins Wathba Stud Farm Cup

Magik Du Paon, the 4-year-old chestnut colt won the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival’s Wathba Stud Farm Cup race at the Abu Dhabi race course on Sunday night, January 26.

The shorter distance of 1200 metres seemed to suit the son of Mahabb and with former champion jockey Wayne Smith on board, Magik Du Paon scored yet another victory in the colours of owner Ali Hadad and the French trainer Eric Lemartinel.

Abu Dhabi – Top Brazilian jockey Silvestre D’Souza made his presence felt after partnering Gabas Noor to victory in the 1400m Wathba Stud Farm Cup (For Private Owners Only) Handicap, the fifth race on the card.
Meanwhile, Manisha held on very strongly under Royston Ffrench to win the second race, the 2200m Purebred Arabians Madinat Zayed Handicap, the highlight of the 8th race-meeting at Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club on Sunday January 19.

Muscat- Australian lady jockey Nikita Makin partnered Qabas to glory in the opening round of the 1600m HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak World Ladies Championship at Al Fulaij racecourse on here on Thursday night.
Trained by Salim Al Hakamani on behalf of the Royal Cavalry Oman, the six-year-old son of Simoun Ben Zid ex Zeenah, did everything right to kick away from the pack and storm home gamely.
